While we offer an optional guest commenting feature that allows users to comment without creating a Livefyre account, depending on the site(s) that you're commenting on, the blog owner may require all commenters to create a Livefyre account before they are able to post a comment.
Creating a Livefyre account can be done one of two ways:
a) Creating an account via a social network that you currently have an account with, or,
b) Creating an account with Livefyre, without the use of a social network.
Here is how to create an account via both methods:
a) Creating a Livefyre account via a social network
1a. Go to the Livefyre.com homepage and click "Sign Up" in the upper-right portion of the page
1b. Go to the Livefyre widget on any blog post or article with Livefyre and click the "Sign In" button (or "Sign in or Post as Guest", depending on the blog owner's Livefyre settings)
2. A pop-up window will appear, and you can select any of the five social networks available:
- Google+
- OpenID (click here to see the various OpenID providers)
3. You will then be redirected to an authentication window for the social network you chose. Enter your sign-in credentials.
For example, here's the window you'll be redirected to if you select Twitter:
4. After you've signed in, you'll be be redirected back to Livefyre where you'll choose your Livefyre username (which will be the name displayed when you're commenting) and enter the your e-mail address and click "Finish".
NOTE: Livefyre will inherit the avatar currently displayed on the social network you clicked to create a Livefyre account. That can be changed by clicking the "change?" button underneath your avatar.
5. That's it! After clicking "Finish" you'll be ready to comment!
b) Creating a Livefyre account without using a social network
1a. Go to the Livefyre.com homepage and click "Sign Up" in the upper-right portion of the page
1b. Go to the Livefyre widget on any blog post or article with Livefyre and click the "Sign In" button (or "Sign in or Post as Guest", depending on the blog owner's Livefyre settings)
2. A pop-up window will appear, and enter your desired Username, Password, and Email address. Then, click "Next".
NOTE: You may have to click the "Livefyre" button underneath the "Comment with:" text on the left hand to reach this screen within the pop-up when it appears.
3. Now, if you'd like, enter your First Name, Last Name, and the URL of your choice (this will be linked to your username when a user clicks on your name in the comment stream. If not, clicking your name will pull-up your Livefyre profile page). Now click "Finish".
4. That's it! After clicking "Finish" you'll be ready to comment!
